Stampin'UP! Watercolor Pencils, At Home With You,
At Home With You, Watercolor Pencils, Aqua Painters

One of the things I love to do with stamped images is to watercolor with pencils, ink, and certain dies. I love that I can tell a story my way, just by using certain colors. In the case of this card, I wanted to share a sentiment with my friends that just bought a new house.

One of the techniques I like to use is to lay down color dry first, and then go back over the image with an Aqua Painter, or wet paintbrush. The Aqua Painters work well here because you can control the flow of water with just a squeeze of the tube. You can actually see the water filling the brush, and know if you have enough water or too much water. I learned the hard way NOT to squeeze the Aqua Painter over my project! If you’ve never used this handy tool, it’s real easy to squeeze too hard.

In these 2 photos you can see the color is a bit uneven, and not very bright. That’s fine for stamped nature images, but doesn’t work as well for the more architectural or geometrical images.

As You can see in the last image the color is more evenly distributed, and bolder. All with just a bit of water!

I hope you discover ways you like to create stories for your friends. The great thing about creating is there are no rules, so just enjoy!
