I saw the directions for making this card and knew I wanted to try it. This is a great card to send a gift card (like the one pictured that I hope to be using this November!). It can also hold a small candy or cash/check folded in half and tucked in. The finished card is slightly bigger than an A2 card at 6 x 4 ½, therefore you will need a bigger envelope. I used a 7 x 5.
This is an easy technique card for a beginner, and can be more advanced if you’re like me and enjoy the decorating part. I like the color combination from the 2017-2019 In Colors of Fresh Fig, and Lemon Lime Twist. I did use a DSP that is retired, but really any Designer Series or Patterned Paper will work.
You Will Need:
1 – 9 x 6-inch solid color card base
1 – 6 x 4 ½ patterned paper for inside front flap
1 – 5 ½ x 4 whisper white for inside bottom flap
How to put it together:
*Score and fold card base at 4 ½ on the long side
*Glue patterned paper to the inside of top flap
*Make a small score line at the 3-inch mark on the top flap and fold the corners towards the middle to create your pocket. Overlap corners slightly and use an adhesive to secure the two corners together.
*Glue the whisper white card to the inside bottom of your card
*Decorate to your tastes or occasion.
I used the Petal Palette Bundle to decorate my pocket card. This set is versatile and can be used for lots of different occasions. I created a bow from the Lemon Lime Twist cotton ribbon, and used it at the top of my front panel as well by adhering with double sided tape. I personalized this by “water-coloring” my attachments using ink pads and Aqua Painters. The results are really nice when using this painting technique.
I hope you get a chance to make this easy card, and do some decorating of your own.
Thanks for stopping by,
